2009 release, domestic. On his latest album, an ambitious orchestral project with the title Revolutions, Beard draws with the Netherlands Metropole under the direction of the conductor and arranger Vince Mendoza some of his earlier composition gains. These large scale revisions of pieces like "Parsley Trees", "Troll Bridge Crossing" and "Holodeck Waltz" (Song of the Sun), "Holiday for Pete and Gladys" (Lost at the Carnival), "In All Her Finery" (Truly ...) and "Hope" and "Trip" (Advocate) confirm the depth of Beards superior compositional skills. And even if along the way certain influences show - a hint of Aaron Copeland here, a little Burt Bacharach and a healthy dose of Joe Zawinul - show his compositions, each of which has its own orbit circling, but an undeniable individuality.
