2005 release. Steve Smith's second instructional video from 1988 finally available on DVD, and just like 'Part 1' it also has over an hour of unreleased footage from Steve's own collection. This DVD starts with footage of Steve playing with Steps Ahead live in Tokyo, Japan in 1986 performing 'Oops' with Mike Mainieri, Michael Brecker, Mike Stern, and Darryl Jones. It continues with Steve and Vital Information featuring Dean Brown, guitar; Tom Coster, keys; Dave Wilczewski, sax, and Tim Landers, bass, performing live in the studio. Steve and the band play material from the early Vital Information records including 'Perfect Date,' 'Blade,' and 'Looks Bad, Feels Good.' Steve demonstrates his concepts on double bass drumming, soloing and odd groupings. He goes into developing creativity and forming drum parts for a song. Special Features include footage of the first Vital Information tour in 1983 with Eef Albers and Dean Brown on guitar; Vital Information live in 1989 with Mike Miller on guitar and Kai Eckhardt on bass; Vital Information live in 1992 as a trio with Jeff Andrews on bass; a drum solo dedicated to Steve's teacher Gary Chaffee; and much more.
