2005 release. This is definitely a contender for the Audiophile Imports CD of the year. Jeff Richman produced this All-Star Tribute to John McLaughlin and the Mahavishnu Orchestra. Jeff wrote new arrangements of many well known and some lesser known McLaughlin and Mahavishnu compositions performed by some of the world's best guitarists including Steve Lukather, Steve Morse, Greg Howe, Frank Gambale, Jimmy Herring, Mike Stern, Dave 'Fuze' Fiuczynski, Warren Haynes, John Abercrombie, and Jeff Richman as well. The backing band features ex-Mahavishnu members Mitchel Forman on keys, and special guest Jerry Goodman on electric violin. If that's not enough the rhythm section also features Jeff Richman on guitar, Kai Eckhardt, on bass, and the greatest drummer in the world, Vinnie Colaiuta. If you liked last years Coltrane tribute, you ain't heard nothing yet!
