2010 release, 2 cd set. Volker Krieger-a visionary and multi-talant. As a guitarist, he helped jazz rock make its breakthrough all over Europe. He was the powerhouse in Dave Pike Set, was the head of his own innovative bands, such as Spectrum and Mild Maniac Orchestra, accompanied the likes of Klaus Doldinger and brought new tones to United Jazz + Rock Ensemble with his distinctive, elegant playing. These 2 Kriegel titles were first issued on vinyl from the musician run company Mood Records. Audiophile Imports was the first company in North America to import the Mood Records catalogue in LP format. Several of the Mood artists catalogue will be released on cd in the coming months, all digitally remastered. Musicians on the 1981 “Journal” cd includes: Volker Kriegel, guitars & synthesizers; Wolfgang Schluter, vibraphone & marimba phone; Hans Peter Stroer, synthesizers, piano & bass; Thomas Bettermann, piano; Eberhard Weber, bass; Ralf Hubner & Evert Fratermann, drums among others. Musicians on the 1987 “Palazzo Blue” includes Volker Kriegel, guitar; Thomas Bettermann, keyboards; Christof Lauer, sax; Michael Schurmann; bass & Thomas Alkier, drums. Sadly, Volker Kriegel passed away in 2003.
