NIGHTFALL

2011 release. “Nightfall” is the latest album from Yellowjackets bassist Jimmy Haslip. The nine track set features Grammy-nominated producer and keyboardist Joe Vannelli. Co-produced by Haslip and Vannelli and recorded at Vannelli’s Blue Moon Studio in Agoura Hills, CA, the collaboration features virtuoso playing and creative compositions that epitomize the spirit and passion of today’s American jazz. Jimmy Haslip is an electric bass player and record producer best known as a founding and current member of the pioneering fusion group Yellowjackets. Haslip is notable for his versatility of tone, including being able to very closely achieve the tone of an upright acoustic bass on an electric bass, his melodic bass lines, and his expressive solos.
Haslip is part of the “Blues For Tony” quartet featuring Allan Holdsworth, Alan Pasqua and Chad Wackerman. Other collaborations include Jing Chi (with Robben Ford and Vinnie Colaiuta) and Modereko. Joe Vannelli is a pop and jazz producer, arranger, composer, programmer & keyboardist. In the 1970s and early 1980s Joe, along with his brothers Gino and Ross Vannelli were at the forefront of the rock synthesizer sound of the day.
